Preserving the past, Celebrating the present, Enriching the future

The West Deptford Historical Association was started in January 2001 with a mission to preserve the history of our township.  With the cooperation of the West Deptford Free Public Library, the Historical Association has dedicated itself to displaying the past of our great community and making it available to residents.  Popular displays in the Historical Association's showcase in the library have included Soupy Island, local churches, Washington Park on the Delaware, Emergency Services, Black History Awareness, township schools and the well-received gallery exhibit Wedding Gowns from the Past.  We are constantly updating our information and displays and look forward to hearing from residents who wish to share items and information such as pictures, letters, documents, clothing, furniture, tools, deeds, stories or anything else that tells the story of the building of our township.  Our goals are simple.  We wish to continue the tradition of building pride in our township by showing that what started in 1871 when the township was incorporated, exhibiting the changes throughout the years and making the community aware of how West Deptford has flourished that all of us are an important part of what makes our township special and unique.  Join us as we continue to tell the story of the building of a township.  Meetings are held bimonthly the second Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the library.  For more information please contact April Maska at 856-845-1205 or the library's Information Desk at 856-845-5593.
